I was delighted to be given the opportunity to read ‘Mr Make Believe’, written by Beezy Marsh. After recently reading a number of more serious books shall we say, this one was a welcome break!
It is a relaxed and easy read, with a delightfully humorous tone. The chaotic main character of Marnie Martin, is a great read for a Mum like me, who enjoys discovering the pitfalls other Mums can encounter, whether it’s the pandemonium of family life, disastrous cooking experiences or the fantasies and imagination that is sometimes needed to escape some of these realities!
Interesting too was the element of Martin’s work life, showing the great impact becoming a Mother can have on ones career and the many ups and downs that come with it! The inside view of the world Journalism and the Tv and Film was hilarious and has left me wondering whether it’s really like that!
I just loved laughing along to the comical take on the monotony and chaos of parental life. A light, comedic, brutally honest and eye opening read! Observing Martin’s realities (and cheeky fantasies) was great fun whilst I escaped some of my own!
